The free lunch...

I'm not in the habit of highlighting give-aways and blog candy and the like because, well, to be honest, I don't always feel that a give-away that comes with conditions about linking and widgets and stuff is really up to me to promote.  This isn't a personal rule though...I think it's probably more about being bone idle.  But there are always things that motivate me more than others.  And I want to tell you about two give-aways that are really just gifts.  Of course, because I found them and am telling you, I'm going to claim a whole lot of credit.  'Specially if you enjoy them!
First, Stephanie and Dori over at Luscious Life Studios have, for the second month, produced free wallpaper to download..as you can see. There's 3 colours to choose from and even instructions!!  (Which is why I'm using them on my itoys!)

And then, Elizabeth, WOYWW friend and Altered Book Lover is offering a completely free Altered Book course.  Using a real stitched book, altering it properly.  It's going to appear as a lesson on her blog, so there's no extra linking or finding.  You won't have to join a group. You aren't asked to put a badge in your sidebar. You don't have to commit.  Hell, you don't even have to admit that you're taking part.  And already, following that link, you'll learn something about books and about the quality of the course that Elizabeth is offering.  For free.  It's free.  And now you're going to learn something about the commitment phobic keeper of this blog. The one that pays for a class, downloads it over the weeks, files it and never looks at it again.  I'm doing this Altered Book course.  Elizabeth makes me feel like I can, and has promised not to laugh.  See, there are so few conditions attached to taking part in her course, that I imposed my own condition..no laughing at my attempts.  And so, and so, in the broad daylight, I'm choosing my book.  It was going to be a Delia Smith recipe book (really, that woman, that sainted woman gets right on my nerves!)..but there are too many pictures.  So now I'm going to look upstairs in my vast boxed collection. Don't come and get me..I'm going to enjoy this!

Mrs Dunnit! ... how could you talk about Saint Delia like that? I have many of her books(and use them) and can often be heard saying things like, "Delia says you should ..." as if I know her personaly. But I won't tell her that you're not a fan. Off to check the Altered Book course, thanks for the link.

I really hope to join in Elizabeth's altered Book course too - have just joined in for another free course but not sure I can do two - obviously I haven't started the first one (which I am 6 weeks behind on...) so will try harder with Elizabeth's. It took me soooo long to be able to even tear a page out of a (very old tatty)book so it may defeat me before I even start... but it will be fun watching YOU! Have you found one yet?!

Oh and I picked up march's Craft Stamper mag! Congrats on that nice wee blog feature! :D

I'm doing Elizabeth's altered book class as well but I may have to get another book as the one I have isn't stitched. As for Delia - won't have a word said against her in my house - her (and my) roast spuds are fantastic.

Thank you SO much for the very nice plug for my altered book class. Yep, I promise not to laugh, if you don't laugh at my spelling "fuirst." I have NO idea who Delia Smith is, but I take it she's a saint in the the culinary world. So very glad you are joining this, especially since you more than likely will NEVER have to buy a thing, except possibly glue, even more appealing to your wallet.

oops posted a comment and then wondered if I had used the right word and just in case you wondered wikipedia says that
Catharsis or katharsis (Greek: κάθαρσις) is a Greek word meaning "cleansing" or "purging". It is derived from the verb καθαίρειν, kathairein, "to purify, purge," and it is related to the adjective καθαρός, katharos, "pure or clean.".

Perfect! LOL

I think there will be a few friendly faces at Elizabeth's class. No laughing is probably a good rule. But as I always jump in before reading the instructions it may be hard not to laugh at my own attempts in a good humoured way.

I think there will be a few of us that are doing E's tut... I have my book...and it stood up to all that bending it backwards stuff too!! I even have a theme... sort of... and I won't laugh at your attempts if you don't laugh at mine!!
(I agree about the jumping through hoops for freebies too... never enter if I have to do anything and I am sure it is laziness)!!

Just stopped by to see what is happening and as I did take a pic, I thought I'd post it. It is a fun friendly place and I love looking except there are so many to look at, but I'll do my best.
